Background

The Department of Computer Science and Biomedical Informatics was founded during the academic year 2004-2005. It is a pioneer Department in the field of Applied Sciences, covering a wide range of subject areas, both in the field of Information Technology and Biomedicine.

The Department was part of the University of Central Greece, which was founded in 2003 with its headquarters in the city of Lamia. Since 06.05.2013, and after the abolition of the University of Central Greece, the Department of Computer Science and Biomedical Informatics was added to the School of Science of the University of Thessaly.
