Description
Science and Scientific Research. Introduction to the Philosophy of Science. How the results of a research in the scientific literature are written, evaluated and published. Types of articles. The peer-review system and its variants. Scientific Ethics and Bioethics. Plagiarism, scientific fraud. Concepts of Bioethics, Issues to be addressed. Darwinism, social Darwinism and eugenics, euthanasia. Development of Biotechnology and Genetic Engineering, Genetically Modified Organisms (GMO). Creation in the laboratory (microorganisms, plants, animals as tools in the hands of sciences). GMO detection methodology and risk assessment methodology for GMO release in the environment, genetic identification, personal data of genetic and biological nature, assisted reproduction and cloning, clinical trials and experimentation in humans, organ donation and transplantation, safety of biomaterials, vaccines, stem cells and umbilical cord blood stem cells. Gene therapy, Management of risks due to interventions in the genetic material of organisms and mainly human, legal and social extensions.
