Employment opportunities are\nidentified in both the private and public sectors as well as in the research\nsector. Some indicative employment opportunities are mentioned:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the Public Sector\nin positions of development and supervision of the Hospital Information System operation,\nManagement of the Hospitals\u2019 Electronic Health Records, selection of medical\nequipment, management of Research and Development Programs of various\nMinistries<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In Universities and\nResearch Centers as Teaching-Research staff<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the private sector\nas scientific managers in the fields of: telemedicine, computer applications in\nmedical devices for processing biosignal or images, design and research in\nresearch departments of large companies for the improvement and design of new\nmedical devices for artificial organs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The degree of the\nDepartment Computer Science and Biomedical Informatics is equivalent to all the\nother Departments of Informatics in the country and the graduates of the\nDepartment have equal opportunities in the labor market with the graduates of\nthe other departments of Informatics. Therefore, the\ngraduates of the Department:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>\u03a4hey are included in the PE19 branch of IT University graduates (according to the<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" Presidential Decree 44\/2005 (\u03b1\u03bd\u03bf\u03af\u03b3\u03b5\u03b9 \u03c3\u03b5 \u03bd\u03ad\u03b1 \u03ba\u03b1\u03c1\u03c4\u03ad\u03bb\u03b1)\" href=\"https:\/\/dib.uth.gr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/PD44-2005.pdf\" target=\"_blank\"> Presidential Decree 44\/2005<\/a> and the attached <a href=\"https:\/\/dib.uth.gr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/2005-1.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"Annex C) (\u03b1\u03bd\u03bf\u03af\u03b3\u03b5\u03b9 \u03c3\u03b5 \u03bd\u03ad\u03b1 \u03ba\u03b1\u03c1\u03c4\u03ad\u03bb\u03b1)\">Annex C)<\/a><\/li><li>They hold the qualifications for appointment to the positions of Secondary Education Teachers of the Ministry of Education and Religions Affairs, of the PE19 branch of IT University graduates (according to article 39 of Law 3794\/09)<\/li><li>They have the ability to engage in activities such as study, design, analysis, implementation, installation, supervision, operation, evaluation, expertise and certification in the scientific fields of:<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>computer hardware and\nsoftware,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>computer science<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>communication systems\nand networks, telecommunications services and internet applications<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>systems and applications, graphics, signal processing, image processing and speech processing (according to article 2 of PD 44\/2009 (<a href=\"https:\/\/dib.uth.gr\/sites\/default\/files\/PD.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"Government Gazette 58 A (\u03b1\u03bd\u03bf\u03af\u03b3\u03b5\u03b9 \u03c3\u03b5 \u03bd\u03ad\u03b1 \u03ba\u03b1\u03c1\u03c4\u03ad\u03bb\u03b1)\">Government Gazette 58 A<\/a> &#8216;))<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Department is\nrenowned domestically and internationally and this is evident in the large\nnumber of graduates who follow a research and academic career and in the\ngraduates who are in the job market, as well as in the large number of original\npublications of the faculty members in reputable scientific journals and in\ninternational scientific conferences. Finally, the number of funded research\nand development programs undertaken by the Department, both by the European\nUnion and by Greek bodies, is important.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Finally, the Department, aiming to strengthen the career\/occupational prospects of its students, offers the opportunity of obtaining a certificate of Pedagogical and Teaching Competence.
