Description

Introduction to computer security, cryptography, user authentication, access control, database security, malicious software, denial of service attacks, intrusion detection, firewalls and intrusion prevention systems, buffer overflow, software security, operating systems security, trusted computing, security management and risk assessment, security controls plans and procedures, human resources security, security auditing, internet security protocols and standards, internet authentication applications, wireless network security

Course objectives

After completing the course, students are expected to:

  • Be able to understand basic notions regarding computer systems security
  • Be able to recognize the most common computer security threats
  • Be familiar with the security countermeasures and be able to make use of them
  • Be able to use security monitoring and security management technologies
  • Be able to understand the basic principles of most common security protocols
