Curriculum vitae

Harilaos G. Sandalidis was born in Florina, Greece, in 1972. He received a five-year Diploma degree in Electronics and Computer Engineering and an MSc degree in Business Administration at the Production Engineering and Management Dept. from the Technical University of Crete, Greece, in 1995 and 1998,
respectively. He also received an MSc degree in Radiofrequency and Microwave Communications and a
Ph.D. degree in the Telecommunications area at the Electronics and Telecommunications (former
Electronics and Electrical engineering) Dept. from the University of Bradford, UK, in 1996 and 2002,
respectively. The period between 1996 and 2001, he was a research assistant at the Telecommunications
Systems Institute of Crete, Greece, working towards his Ph.D. degree in collaboration with the Bradford
University. After his military service, he joined TEMAGON, the technology consulting branch of the
Hellenic Telecommunications Organization (OTE Group), in 2002, where he was involved in the risk
mitigation program for the 2004 Olympic Telecommunication Network in collaboration with Telcordia
Technologies, Inc. He also worked as a senior investigator at the Greek Ombudsman Office. In March
2009, he joined the University of Central Greece as a Lecturer at the Dept. of Computer Science and
Biomedical Informatics. He is now an Associate Professor at the same Dept. which currently belongs to
the University of Thessaly. His major research interests lie in the field of optical wireless networking,
including free-space optics, underwater optical networks, and visible light communications.
