The aims of the English for General Academic Purposes courses are concerned with those communication skills in English which are required for study purposes in formal educational systems. The specific course aims at developing students’ academic writing skills through the reading of a wide range of texts and in connection with different types of writing such as producing summaries of short academic texts, report writing, producing a written description of information presented in diagrammatic form, graphs and charts, synthesizing of ideas, reviewing and evaluating arguments, producing a short essay in academic style. The approach used is task based while the focus is not only on writing as a product but also on the processes involved in the different types of writing.
There are two assessment options for this course: A Continuous assessment scheme = 100% and A Final Exam = 100%
