Basic principles of Statistical Quality Control, Control charts for variables and attributes. Run Length, In-control and Out-of-Control Average Run Length. False Alarm Rate. Control Limits. Central Line. Phase I and Phase II. Characteristic curve. Shewhart-type control charts. CUSUM control charts. EWMA control charts. Basic principles and characteristics of coherent reliability structures. Minimal Path sets. Minimal cut sets. Failure rate. Mean Time to Failure. Structural reliability and Reliability as a function of time. Aging properties of systems lifetimes. Markov processes.
The main objectives of the present course include the introduction to Statistical Quality Control as well as the familiarization to most important characteristics of a coherent reliability system. The course offers an introductory presentation of the main advances in the fields of Statistical Process Monitoring and Reliability Theory and assists the students to deepen into the Probability Theory through practical applications.
