Description

  • Specialized Databases in Bioinformatics: Overview of existing databases for genetic, protein, and regulatory data. Particular emphasis on databases for non-coding RNAs, such as miRBase, lncBase, etc.
  • Development of Molecular Target Databases for Small RNAs: Basic principles of database design, data collection from literature and experiments, correlation of small RNAs with targets, functionality, and biological significance. Example: Development of tools like DIANA-TarBase.
  • Computational Prediction of Molecular Targets of Small RNAs: Sequence alignment algorithms, models of energy stability, machine learning and deep learning approaches (e.g., microT-CNN). Critical evaluation of the advantages and limitations of these approaches.
  • Pathway Enrichment Analysis: Application of tools to determine the functional significance of predicted or experimentally validated small RNA targets. Use of tools such as DIANA-miRPath.
