According to the decision no. 194542 / Δ2 of the Minister of Education and Religious Affairs, the possibility of obtaining a certificate for pedagogical and teaching competence is provided to those of the graduates (with academic year of admission 2013-2014 and onwards) of the Departments of Computer Science and Biomedical Informatics and Computer Science and Telecommunications, who have attended and have been successfully examined in teaching-related courses in the following subject areas:
Education and training issues
Learning and teaching topics
Special teaching and practice
which are included in the curriculum of these Departments.
A certificate of successful attendance of the above subjects is issued by the Departments. This decision was published in the Government Gazette (Government Gazette 3815 / 28-11-2016 τ.Β ’). Undergraduate students entering the two Departments from 2013 – 2014 and onwards can attend during their undergraduate studies a program of Pedagogical and Teaching Competence, which includes eight courses and if they are successfully evaluated in all the offered courses and Traineeships, they will obtain a certification of Pedagogical and Teaching Competence. The courses of the Curriculum for Pedagogical and Teaching Competence are included in the Curricula of the two Departments of the School of Science of the University of Thessaly and are as follows:

The pedagogical knowledge courses with codes 0ΕΠ01, 0ΕΠ02, 0ΕΠ03 and 0ΕΠ04 are provided by the study program of the Department of Computer Science and Biomedical Informatics, and the courses with codes ΕΥ571, ΕΥ573, ΕΥ672 and ΕΥ673 are provided by the Study Program of the Department of Computer Science and Telecommunications. The students have the opportunity to include these courses in their Courses Selection statement, which they submit to the Secretariat of the Department, from the first semesters of their studies, so that they may attend them and be examined by the Department of the School of Science that offers them. The outline of each course is provided in the study guide of the Department. The two Traineeships with codes EY771 and EY871 are selected by the students only if they have successfully completed all the eight compulsory pedagogical training courses and are offered in the last semesters of the studies of the students of the two Departments. The two Traineeship courses, with codes EY771 and EY871, have a Regulation, which is listed here.
The graduate of the Department of Computer Science and Biomedical Informatics, who has successfully completed the Curriculum for Pedagogical and Teaching Competence, will obtain a Certificate of Pedagogical and Teaching Competence which, together with the Bachelor degree will allow him/her to apply for a teacher position in public primary or secondary education or in any other position in which certified teacher qualifications are required. According to the Ministerial Decision 194542 / Δ2 / 15-11-2016 (Government Gazette 3815 / 28-11-2016 vol. B) the undergraduate students, entering the Department from the academic year 2013− 2014 and onwards, may attend during their undergraduate studies a curriculum of Pedagogical and Teaching Competence, which includes eight core courses with codes 0EP01-0EP04, EY571, EY573, EY672, EY673, and two Traineeships.
